WHat is the lamplighter initiative?

The Lamplighter Initiative is a collaborative hotel renovation project to create more affordable housing for the residents of Santa Fe. Key operational partners on this initiative include Anchorum Health Foundation, JL Gray CompanyThe Life Link, and New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness.

This project will create 58 new units of affordable housing on the property of the existing Lamplighter Inn located at 2405 Cerrillos Rd.

The Lamplighter initiative is funded by Anchorum Health Foundation, City of Santa Fe, The Annie E. Casey Foundation, New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA), Santa Fe Community Foundation, Santa Fe County and The Thornburg Foundation.

WHo will live there?

WHo will live there?

The Lamplighter will welcome members of the community that need affordable housing, and leases will be reserved for those earning 80 percent of the area median income (AMI) or less. For example, a household of two could earn no more than $58,560 in 2024 to qualify. This is an ideal property for those at risk of eviction, as well as those who are currently homeless. Oftentimes housing like this can serve to prevent homelessness before it occurs. 25% of the units will be set aside for those with special needs who require some service in order to remain housed. There will be onsite staff coverage up to five days per week provided by The Life Link to administer these services.
